Medical Technology Industry's Largest North American Conference Features Business Partnering, Policy Updates
BOSTON, Sept. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --AdvaMed 2012: The MedTech Conference, one of the largest medical technology events in the world, opens Monday, Oct. 1 in Boston, and has more than doubled in attendance in the past five years. Building on the success of the initial years of the conference, professionals with regulatory, reimbursement, business development, legal, IP, marketing, quality, compliance and other responsibilities, will convene at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center to learn and share insights on public policies, advancements and new technologies in the market.

Medical technology is one of the fastest growing manufacturing industries, creating nearly two million jobs in the U.S. Massachusetts is home to 82,000 medical technology jobs at an average salary of nearly $67,000, and the industry contributes $17.6 billion to the state economy.
The conference will open Monday with its Medical Technology Veterans Program (MVP) Boot Camp for Returning Heroes.Through this initiative, returning veterans will receive career building skills and advice as well as job-search assistance and networking opportunities. In addition, CEO Unplugged sessions on Monday will focus on a range of subjects including payment and healthcare delivery as well as how collaborating with manufacturers can create value for healthcare providers.
This three-day conference will feature more than 40 educational panels led by medical technology visionaries. For example, an educational workshop on Monday will address the impact of business and regulatory developments in bringing medical devices to the U.S. market. CEO Unplugged sessions on Tuesday will explore the technology and regulatory environment as well as emerging growth company issues and policy and advocacy in the sector. On Wednesday, some of the industry's leading figures will address the upcoming medical device excise tax.
A special feature will be Innovation Alley, where 10 companies will display their life-changing innovations and cutting-edge technology. In the Massachusetts Pavilion in the exhibit hall, a cluster of companies from the state will feature their innovative products and services.
