To herald its presence at the upcoming eCarTec Conference in Munich, Germany, Bal Seal Engineering, Inc. has released a short video highlighting the use of its Canted Coil Springs as connecting, conducting and EMI shielding components in hybrid and electric automotive platforms. The video can be viewed on YouTube at http://youtu.be/PfmUayCdiNk, and will be featured in the company's eCarTec exhibit #201 in Hall B2 of the Munich Trade Fair Centre from October 23-25th.
Using photorealistic animation, text and professional narration, the new video titled Bal Seal Solutions for Automotive Equipment demonstrates how Bal Seal Canted Coil Springs® can help automotive OEMs and tier suppliers maintain critical connections in engine systems and external charging equipment. It offers viewers a peek inside a "virtual" hybrid vehicle, where springs conduct power and signals, shield against EMI and even fasten interior panels.
Roland Reichert, a Bal Seal Global Automotive Market Manager who helped develop the video, says it will give engineers at eCarTec a "fast and economical look" at his company's Canted Coil Spring in action.
"In a matter of seconds, an engineer who sees this can step inside the application and determine whether the spring is the answer to a challenge they may be experiencing," he says.
According to Reichert, Bal Seal's spring has long been used by big automotive OEMs to ensure reliable, consistent transmission of electricity in the power steering and braking systems of conventionally-powered vehicles. Today, he says, more designers of hybrid and electric vehicles are discovering the flexibility and built-in vibration/shock resistance of the spring, using it to ensure multi-point conductivity to and from battery packs, home charging units and more.
In addition to the new video, Bal Seal will feature working spring demonstration samples in its exhibit at eCarTec. More information about the show can be found at http://www.ecartec-conference.com.
