Leading Shareholder Rights Law Firm Announces Name Change; Shares New Name With Long-Time Partner

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Robbins Umeda LLP, one of the nation's leading shareholder rights law firms, announced today that it will change its name to Robbins Arroyo LLP effective January 1, 2013. Co-founder Marc M. Umeda, who continues to serve the firm on strategic and pro bono initiatives in his role as senior counsel, has stepped away from daily operations. The firm's name change recognizes the seminal contributions and leadership of partner Felipe J. Arroyo.

"Working with Marc Umeda has been rewarding to both the firm and me personally, and we look forward to his continued contribution to the firm's success as senior counsel," said Brian J. Robbins, co-founder of Robbins Umeda LLP (hereafter Robbins Arroyo LLP). "I am proud to now share the firm name with our long-time partner, Felipe Arroyo. Felipe has played a central role in the growth of the firm, not to speak of his tremendous skills as an aggressive and effective advocate for our clients. His leadership serves our clients and practice very well and will help steer the firm in the coming decade."

Mr. Arroyo, a trial lawyer with more than 20 years' experience, began his career as a complex commercial litigator at a nationally prominent corporate defense firm. He also served as in-house counsel at a New Jersey-based fitness equipment company, where he led a successful international patent enforcement litigation team. Mr. Arroyo graduated from UCLA in 1989 with a B.A. in Economics, and earned his Juris Doctor from the Yale Law School in 1992.

The firm, founded in 2002 by Robbins and Umeda to pursue a shared passion for shareholder, consumer, and employee rights, has helped individual and institutional investors realize more than $1 billion in value over the last decade. The firm thanks its clients, colleagues, and friends for their support and continued reliance on Robbins Arroyo LLP for strategic counsel in complex litigation matters.
