WASHINGTON, March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) is pleased to announce the honorees for the 2013 Drug Free Kids Campaign. Stacie Mathewson, a philanthropist and founder of the Stacie Mathewson Foundation, has been named this year's Humanitarian of the Year for her personal commitment to raising awareness of substance abuse and addiction and the need for prevention, treatment and recovery services for young people. Jack Sammis, Chief Executive Officer of IMN Solutions, Inc., has been named the Champion for a Drug-Free Kids for helping CADCA realize its mission of creating safe, healthy and drug-free communities.

CADCA's year-long Drug-Free Kids Campaign recognizes leaders and corporations who are supporting and educating the community about substance abuse and its impact on young people. Funds raised through the DFK Campaign help support CADCA's efforts to build and strengthen local community coalitions and special programs that transform youth into civic leaders and reduce substance abuse in communities around the country. A portion of the Drug-Free Kids Campaign benefits CADCA's National Youth leadership Initiative (NYLI), an evidence-based youth development training that helps young people and their adult advisors strategically address their local alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems. CADCA trains over 1,000 youth and adults each year through the NYLI.

"For two decades, CADCA has been a leader in addressing and preventing illicit drug use, the misuse and abuse of prescription and over-the-counter medicines, as well as underage drinking and tobacco use. CADCA's evidence-based community problem solving model trains community coalitions around the country to develop and enforce laws and policies, create safer neighborhoods and change community norms," said CADCA Chairman and CEO Gen. Arthur T. Dean. "We couldn't do this work without the support of leaders like Stacie Mathewson and Jack Sammis. They both exemplify what CADCA's Drug Free Kids Campaign is about."

"I am extremely grateful to be considered for such a tremendous honor," Mathewson said."I accept this honor in commemoration of my son Timothy Joshua Montoya, who recently lost his battle to addiction and is the inspiration for the work I do."

Sammis said: "We have been pleased to support CADCA throughout the years as we believe in your core mission and the accomplishments CADCA has achieved with both our youth and in our communities. I will be privileged to receive The Champion for a Drug-Free Kids Award during CADCA's Awards Dinner in September. The entire IMN Solutions is committed to support CADCA's efforts and we look forward to our long-term partnership."

CADCA will honor these leaders at its 15th annual Drug-Free Kids Campaign Awards Dinner on Sept. 24, 2013 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C. Visit http://drugfreekids.cadca.org for more details about the campaign and the Awards Dinner.
