Aker Solutions has signed a contract with ExxonMobil for the supply of subsea umbilicals for the Erha North phase 2 development in NigeriaThe Erha North Phase 2 development is an extension of the existing Erha subsea system and infrastructure located approximately 97 kilometres offshore Nigeria in water depths between 1 000 and 1 200 metres.

Aker Solutions' scope of work includes the delivery of 2 dynamic and 2 static steel tube umbilicals, at a total length of 16.5 kilometres. The umbilicals will be delivered in 2014.

"We are pleased to extend our global footprint and support ExxonMobil in Nigeria. Aker Solutions provides cost effective and technically advanced subsea umbilicals worldwide and we look forward to execute another deepwater project", says Tove Roskaft, head of Aker Solutions' umbilicals business area.

The umbilicals will be designed, engineered and manufactured at Aker Solutions' facility in Mobile, Alabama, in the US, supported by project management and engineering by a local team in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Mobile facility provides reliable horizontal bundling and extrusion machines, deepwater access to installation vessels, high capacity processing and storage carousels and on-site welding and test facilities.

Subsea umbilicals are deployed on the seabed to supply necessary controls and chemicals to subsea oil and gas wells, subsea manifolds and any subsea systems requiring remote control.
