EXPERT ALERTS:

A New West Texas Oil Boom
Arthur Wright
Attorney
Thompson & Knight in Dallas
"While oil and gas deposits in other regions of the state have garnered more drilling and transactional activity, one quietly emerging West Texas shale formation holds reserves that could surpass all those other better-known plays. The Cline Shale, stretching below the surface of 11 West Texas counties, holds an estimated capacity of 30 billion barrels of oil, three times that of the Eagle Ford. It's a complex region with overlapping deposits. It has tremendous potential and could be reminiscent of the East Texas oil boom of the 1920s. Small operators have owned producing leases for many years, and most are interested in holding and developing their assets. These independents need capital, so we are seeing increased interest in joint ventures and investments from capital providers."

March Madness Is Streaming More Than Ever -- Bad News for Bandwidth?
Dror Gill
CTO
Beamr
"When the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament first streamed games online in 2003, hardly anyone watched the games on the computer due to poor connection speed and quality issues. This year, more than 31 million people are expected to watch online or via their mobile device or tablet -- in the first week of the tournament alone."
Gill, is available to discuss advancements that have been made in streaming video to allow this shift, and how it will need to change to accommodate higher-quality video. He can also break down compression and bit-rate details about online streaming video in sports and streaming video.
