LOS ANGELES, March 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Easter arrives in style and early on Skid Row today Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 10:00am - 3:00pm where thousands of homeless & poor children and their families will celebrate with a beautiful homemade barbeque brunch, ice cream sundaes from Rowe Cuisine, inspirational exciting music, face painting, balloon pets, and specially decorated handmade Easter Baskets full of toys and candy for every child. Each family will also be given food bags to enjoy.
Hundreds of volunteers will bow their knees and heads and pray a personalized Easter prayer of blessing for each individual attending. Additionally, for the first time ever, a volunteer teenage girl has made 1,000 colorful scarves and homemade bunnies for all of the children.
A traditional Easter service celebrating Christ's resurrection will be followed by a delicious barbeque chicken brunch with homemade baked beans, fresh fruit salad, baked potatoes, corn and bread. Anyone and everyone who is hungry and hopeless is invited to attend and welcomed with loving arms.
God's love and excitement will fill the air as we celebrate that new life can be breathed into dead things and into the hopelessness of Skid Row. Easter changes everything and gives new meaning to everyone especially the poor, needy and forgotten.
Hundreds of volunteers from all over the Southland will be giving these impoverished children, men and women more than a great meal and an Easter basket, they will be showing them God's transforming love and miraculous hope. These amazing volunteers who come from all walks of life have their own interesting unique stories of what led them to spend their Easter Saturday spreading joy on Skid Row.
For almost 70 years, the Fred Jordan Mission has fed millions of homeless, hurting and hungry people every day. The Mission, open 365 days a year since 1944, feeds hundreds of hungry people and provides assistance to impoverished individuals and families.
