Matthews Southwest's "The Bow" Tower in Calgary, Canada topped a prestigious international list of the most spectacular buildings in the world. That list was compiled by experts at Emporis, a leading database of information about building and construction projects, based in Germany. The Bow Tower, developed by Matthews Southwest, designed by Fosters and Partner's and owned by H&R REIT, is the recently constructed 58-story home of Canadian energy producers EnCana and Cenovus. The curved design with a steel diagrid, load-bearing exterior is the tallest building in Canada west of Toronto.
Speaking to the award, Matthews Southwest CEO Jack Matthews extended congratulations to the team that undertook this remarkable construction project, "From architects to developers to owners, I think I speak for the whole team in expressing my gratitude to Emporis for this distinction.
