The medical definition of infertility is the failure to conceive after twelve consecutive months of unprotected sexual intercourse. Globally, it is estimated that infertility concerns from 8% to 12% of couples with women of childbearing age and that affects between 50 and 80 million people[1].

"The problems of infertility - says Professor Santiago Munné - concern both women and men, but in the most recent years we have witnessed a significant improvement in ART: actually the success rates depend on the age group, from 30.8% in the young one to 14.9% in the older group."

During this CME meeting, the leading experts in Infertility and Reproductive Medicine will meet to discuss technologies that can be used to improve and standardize outcomes and will give life to a debate designed to lead to a consensus.

"One of the emerging issue in ART - states Professor Antonio Pellicer - is the personalization of treatment. To limit treatment-related complications, we have to find a tailored therapeutic strategy, considering all individual features."

The program of the Athens meeting will be highly interactive and will allow the learners to express their opinions on current issues through many instruments, such as SSIF Twitter account and a dedicated blog on the event.

"SSIF has realized the importance of developing medical education in this area at an early stage. - says Michael Piraux, Secretary of the Board of Directors of SSIF - In fact, we organized the first symposium for Reproductive Medicine more than 30 years ago. Since then, SSIF has always offered high-level training courses both for the training of young specialists and for the updating of researchers in advanced fields of research. "
