United States Mint to Participate in the American Numismatic Association's New Orleans National Money Show

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Mint announced today that it will occupy booth #645 at the American Numismatic Association's National Money Show May 9 -11, 2013, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The show is a great opportunity for collectors to purchase their favorite United States Mint products over the counter. Some of the items that will be on hand include American Eagle Gold and Silver Coins; assorted bronze medals, including First Spouse Four-Medal Sets and bronze duplicates of Congressional Gold Medals; 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA and 5-Star Generals Commemorative Coins; and sets, bags and rolls, and coin covers that contain 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters® coins and Presidential $1 Coins.

In addition, collectors will have the opportunity to place orders for two new products, the 2013 Happy Birthday and Congratulations Sets, as well as the highly anticipated 2013 American Eagle West Point Two-Coin Silver Set, which goes on sale May 9 (a set will be on hand for viewing).

United States Mint products may also be purchased at the bureau's online catalog at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog or by calling 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). Hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468).

J. Marc Landry, the United States Mint's Acting Associate Director for Sales and Marketing, will host two coin forums during the show. These interactive forums will give attendees a chance to share their ideas about U.S. coinage and learn about the bureau's other coin programs and initiatives.

The first forum will be held Friday, May 10 at 2 p.m. in room 270, and the second on Saturday, May 11 at 11 a.m., also in room 270.

The United States Mint was created by Congress in 1792 and became part of the Department of the Treasury in 1873. It is the Nation's sole manufacturer of legal tender coinage and is responsible for producing circulating coinage for the Nation to conduct its trade and commerce. The United States Mint also produces numismatic products, including proof, uncirculated, and commemorative coins; Congressional Gold Medals; and silver and gold bullion coins. The United States Mint's numismatic programs are self-sustaining and operate at no cost to the taxpayer.
