MUSE School Founders Suzy Amis Cameron And Rebecca Amis Proudly Announce The Arrival Of Explorer And Filmmaker James Cameron's DEEPSEA CHALLENGER

WASHINGTON, June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Explorer and filmmaker James Cameron, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution President and Director Susan K. Avery and MUSE School Founders Suzy Amis Cameron and Rebecca Amis will welcome students attending from schools throughout the eight wards of Washington, D.C. to an educational event across from the Woodrow Wilson Plaza. The event is centered around the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submarine Cameron engineered for his historic dive to 35,787 feet in the Challenger Deep and its influence on MUSE School's GREEN STEAM educational approach.

The submarine began its cross-country journey at Los Angeles' California Science Center on June 1, 2013 making stops in several cities as it made its way to Washington, D.C. The 24-foot long DEEPSEA CHALLENGER will be on display for an official public viewing from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m across from Woodrow Wilson Plaza at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave.

James Cameron, Suzy Amis Cameron, Rebecca Amis and other officials will welcome the arrival of the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER, a submersible Cameron piloted in March 2012 on a record-breaking solo dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench at a public event focused on the MUSE GREEN STEAM educational approach.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is a private, non-profit organization on Cape Cod, Mass., dedicated to marine research, engineering, and higher education. WHOI builds and operates the deep-sea exploration vehicles of the National Deep Submergence Facility (NDSF) for the benefit of the entire US oceanographic community.
