Partners Set A New Global Gold Standard In Education: Dermalogica And WorldSkills International

LOS ANGELES, June 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dermalogica announces a global partnership with non-profit WorldSkills International to champion excellence in skin care and body therapy skills training. In July, 2013, Leipzig, Germany will be the location for the first official showcase for this alliance, representing the new gold standard for commitment to educational excellence (www.dermalogica.com/worldskills).

As a "skill presenter" for skin and body therapy and Global Industry Partner, Dermalogica will also coach each of the 26 finalists competing in the skin care and beauty category. Each finalist will be paired with a Dermalogica educator and a WorldSkills International expert to prepare for this year's competition in Leipzig, Germany.

Professionals in every realm of expertise convene every other year to demonstrate their prowess as part of the WorldSkills International forum. Skin care will be one of the seven competitive segments where professionals unleash their expertise and know-how, all in the name of industry recognition. International media will cover the four-day event, which will take place July 3 through 6, 2013. More than 1,000 journalists are expected to attend, covering competitions representing 56 countries and 45 official skills in which the participants compete.

Dermalogica will supply a full kit of products to each of the 26 competing participants so they may use to practice for the WorldSkills International competition. Additionally, Dermalogica will provide products to be used during the skin care competition protocols in July.

Annet King, Director of Global Education for Dermalogica comments, "Dermalogica is honored to participate with World Skills International as the global leader in skin therapy education and skills-training for the professional skin therapist. This event showcases skin therapy as a viable career, and elevates the perception of our skill set, worldwide."

Each WorldSkills International category will choose top three finalists - gold, silver and bronze - all of whom will be presented with a media and recognized at the Closing Ceremony on July 7, 2013.

Dermalogica is currently working with WorldSkills International to update the curriculum for the 2015 competition to be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
