WILMINGTON, N.C., July 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --After 20 years serving the Wilmington area and a beautiful and much-deserved renovation to celebrate the milestone, K38 celebrates its official 20th Anniversary this Saturday, July 13.
The popular midtown restaurant on Oleander Drive was closed for four months for extensive renovations, which were unveiled this May. Though everything received a complete facelift from walls, flooring and windows to a new kitchen infrastructure, the local, intimate surf vibe remains the same. Renovations include new dining areas, an outside patio and a new bar with custom woodwork and unique glass tiling.
Josh Vach, owner of K38, Inc., grew up with his family's restaurants in Maryland and worked in restaurants in southern California, where his love for surfing and fresh flavors inspired the baja style he brought to Wilmington.
"The renovation of K38 wasbittersweet," said Vach. "My father was by my sidefor a lot ofthe design and construction in 1993, and he has since passed. I wanted to keep his creativetouch and spirit alive, and he'd beproud of the result. The best compliment I've received post-renovation is that K38 still has itsoriginalvibe and soul."
Since K38's founding, Vach has opened a group of restaurants that serve the entire Wilmington community: K38 and K-Bueno on Oleander Drive, K38 at Porters Neck, Tower 7 and Cafe del Mar at Wrightsville Beach, and Las Olas, which opened last year in the Forum shopping center. On this special anniversary he has a lot of gratitude for the almost 200 employees who operate his restaurants daily.
"In the restaurant world it doesn't matter how good you were yesterday-you have to be just as good or better the next day," he said. "From the host and servers to cooks and managers, I am blessed to have an amazing team of people who work with me to help accomplish this mission daily."
