Verizon Wireless Appoints Michelle Miller President Of Central Texas Region

DALLAS, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology industry veteran Michelle Miller has been appointed Central Texas region president for Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless company.

Miller will lead one of Verizon's biggest and most populous regions, with 80+ company-owned retail stores, a network operations center in Southlake, and more than 2,000 employees. The Central Texas Region is made up of markets throughout the Lone Star state including, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Waco, Temple, Killeen, Denton, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Tyler, Longview, Wichita Falls, San Angelo, Abilene, Lubbock, Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley, to name a few. The region also extends to the Shreveport, Bossier City and Monroe areas of Louisiana.

Verizon Wireless operates the nation's largest 4G LTE network and offers a broad array of the most advanced 4G LTE devices and services for consumers and businesses. In Texas, Verizon 4G LTE covers virtually every market and already is accessible to more than 98 percent of the state's population.

"Verizon Wireless customers in the Central Texas region benefit from top technology, a powerful network infrastructure and a remarkable team of wireless professionals," Miller said. "It is an exciting opportunity to join and lead this effort to serve customers and communities in such a dynamic region."

Miller will lead the region from the company's Central Texas headquarters in Irving, Texas. Prior to the new position, Miller served as Verizon's vice president of custom integrated solutions, where she was responsible for the wholesale services and operations across the entire corporation. Before that, she was director of retail sales for Verizon's Georgia/Alabama region, where she led more than 1,500 employees and oversaw sales in more than 90 company-owned locations across the states of Georgia and Alabama.

Miller began her career in the wireless industry in 1998 as a customer service representative in Englewood, Colo. She went on to hold a variety of management positions in customer service, business sales, indirect sales and in 2004 was named associate director, marketing & sales operations for the Mountain region. She later moved to Irvine, Calif., where she served as director, retail distribution, for the West Area, supporting company-owned locations spanning across 13 states.

A Colorado native, Miller attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. She was also a graduate of the university's Minority Arts & Sciences Program. While living in Atlanta, Miller served on the board of directors of Partnership Against Domestic Violence, Georgia's largest domestic violence agency. She also volunteered her time mentoring children with Big Brothers Big Sisters - Metro Atlanta chapter.

"We are confident in Michelle's ability to lead and grow the Central Texas region," said Roger Tang, Verizon Wireless South Area president. "She has a long history of delivering results for Verizon Wireless and her solid understanding of the wireless industry has prepared her to take the region to even greater success."
