CHICAGO, Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --The International Association of Interviewers (IAI) proudly announces the pairing of two of our industries most influential pioneers for one new seminar. Dr. Edward Geiselman, PHD and David Zulawski, CFI, CFE are partnering to co-present "Cognitive Interviewing and Applied Interrogation Techniques" November 14th and 15th, 2013 at the Double Tree hotel in Downers Grove, Illinois. This seminar marks the first time these two internationally recognized experts will come together to teach the proper execution and the optimal application of five interview and interrogation techniques.
Dr. Edward Geiselman, PHD is the co-creator of the Cognitive Interview Technique. He has been a professor of Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles for 34 years. Since joining the faculty at UCLA Dr. Geiselman has published over 100 research papers and five books including Eyewitness Expert Testimony and Memory Enhancing Techniques for Investigative Interviewers: The Cognitive Interview. His work is a core reference for investigators in law enforcement, the private sector and psychology professionals. Dr. Geiselman has trained and consulted for investigative agencies including the FBI, Homeland Security, The US State Department, Los Angeles Police Department and Singapore Police Force. Dr. Geiselman was awarded the Mary-Ellen McCormick Award by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) in 2013 for his career contributions to investigating child abuse cases.
David Zulawski, CFI, CFE co-founded Wicklander-Zulawski and Associates (WZ) in 1982 and developed WZ into the worldwide leader in non-confrontational interview and interrogation techniques training. Mr. Zulawski has conducted over 10,000 interviews and interrogations, co-authored Practical Aspects of Interview and Interrogation (first and second edition), published over 150 articles and conducted over 800 presentations worldwide. In 2012 Mr. Zulawski interrogated John McCullough regarding his involvement in the 1957 murder of Maria Ridulph. The information he obtained assisted in closing the oldest cold murder case in United States history. His extensive experience conducting interviews with law enforcement, federal agencies, human resources and loss prevention gives Mr. Zulawski a complete understanding of the challenges and opportunities investigators face across all sectors.
Dr. Geiselman's and Mr. Zulawski's books are two of the eight core texts utilized to create the Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) Exam. This 15 module exam is designed to distinguish elite interviewers who can apply their education to conduct morally, legally and ethically acceptable interviews and interrogations across any discipline.
