ATLANTA, Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Georgia Power announced today the opening of its storefront in the new Junior Achievement Chick-fil-A Foundation Discovery Center located within the Georgia World Congress Center. Georgia Power's participation in the Discovery Center is part of a three-year partnership with Junior Achievement and underscores the longstanding relationship between the company and the organization.

"Georgia Power is pleased to be a part of the new Discovery Center in Atlanta," said Pedro Cherry, vice president of community and economic development for Georgia Power and board member of Junior Achievement of Georgia. "This innovative approach to fiscal and business education will serve the children of metro Atlanta well and help develop a future workforce that will be ready to successfully manage personal finances, identify entrepreneurial opportunities and allow Georgia to compete globally."

The Discovery Center is part of a larger Junior Achievement initiative for metro Atlanta students consisting of a four-week classroom curriculum culminating with real-world simulations at the center. The Discovery Center includes two interactive venues: JA Finance Park, presented by SunTrust, where students experience their personal financial futures, including job, income, education and family scenarios, and JA BizTown, a simulated macro-economy where students can take on the roles of employee, taxpayer and consumer.

In partnership with Atlanta Public Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools and Marietta City Schools, the experience is expected to serve more than 30,000 middle school students annually beginning in September.
