efollett.com Launches Tablet-optimized Website

OAK BROOK, Ill., Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Follett today announced it has launched a tablet-optimized application of efollett.com, the most-visited collegiate ecommerce site in North America. This latest expansion of the efollett.com mobile platform makes it easy for students with tablets to access and purchase course materials, supplies and general merchandise. In less than one month, orders from customers using tablets have increased more than 30 percent compared to the same period a year ago.

The expanded mobile-ready website allows Follett to reach its core customer base of college students nationwide who are increasingly showing a preference for tablets. According to Student Monitor research study data, nearly 25 percent of students now own a tablet - a 10 percent increase over last year. Follett's tablet traffic to efollett.com has more than doubled compared to last year.

"As the leader in collegiate retail, we know that tablets are becoming increasingly important to our customers," said Don Germano, President of Follett Higher Education Group. "By applying our expertise in technology and mobile retailing, we're creating a better shopping experience that aligns with the way students shop today."

The new tablet-optimized efollett.com website improves the customer experience with:

  • Larger interface: The tablet-optimized website makes it easier to navigate, view details and shop for general merchandise and textbooks.
  • Touch-friendly features: Shoppers will experience image swiping, larger features, pinch and tap navigation, less typing and fewer clicks to make shopping easier.
  • Upgraded checkout experience: Checkout forms have been designed for touch, making the purchase experience much simpler for customers while still incorporating all of the security and privacy features provided on efollett.com.

"Follett is stepping ahead of the competition with platforms that give students a better shopping experience," said Roe McFarlane, Senior Vice President, E-Commerce Product Development at Follett Higher Education Group. "Our early results demonstrate that students are responding to our technology investments and are more frequently purchasing the materials they need to succeed in the classroom."

Visit efollett.com to experience the optimized website.
