SEATTLE, Oct. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) has deployed Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) to support institutional research and data analytics for Washington's system of 34 public community and technical colleges. The SBCTC will host Tableau Server, providing each college with its own business intelligence virtual server environment. The individual colleges will use Tableau Desktop to visualize and analyze data, and will be able to share interactive dashboards with the SBCTC Tableau Server.

Data-driven decision making is a core philosophy of the SBCTC. It sought an economical way to host an analytics environment that could engage each of the colleges. It also wanted to find a business intelligence platform that was intuitive for end users.
"Colleges individually were starting to use Tableau but it wasn't cost efficient for each of them to deploy Tableau Server," said Michael Scroggins, Deputy Executive Director for Information and Technology and Chief Information Officer at SBCTC. "By hosting the server environment ourselves, we are able to provide individual portals for each college so they can access and share information right from their browser with just a few clicks."
SBCTC first discovered Tableau in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms*. The report listed Tableau as "Leader". It is initially piloting the project with three colleges and expects that all of the 34 will take advantage of the Tableau Server.
