Black Sun and Shaftesbury Win Silver at the 2013 Digital Impact Awards

LONDON, October 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

Black Sun's work with Shaftesbury plc on their corporate website was honoured with a Silver award at last night's Digital Impact Awards for 'Best use of digital in the property sector'. Success at the awards demonstrates Black Sun's excellence in digital stakeholder communications.

The Digital Impact Awards sets the industry-wide benchmark in digital communications, and have done so since 2009. Launched by Communicate magazine, the awards are the biggest European celebration of digital stakeholder engagement. Last night's ceremony, at The Brewery in London, was hosted by BBC Science correspondent, Steve Mould, and honoured the best digital work this year.

Black Sun's objective was to "create a corporate website that does not look like a corporate website". The challenge was to bring Shaftesbury's investment strategy to life and show the dynamic canvas on which the company operates.

Entries were scrutinised by a panel of 30 judges whose insights allowed only the most successful projects to take home awards, setting a true standard for excellence. The process distinguished the most effective, integrated and creative campaigns for receipt of a coveted Digital Impact Award. Of the 112 shortlisted campaigns, only 33 were chosen to take home a gold award, 25 received silver and 26 nabbed a bronze.

Richard Dixon, Chief Digital Officer of Black Sun said: "We are delighted that Shaftesbury's website has been recognised by these prestigious awards. The website enables Shaftesbury to communicate core corporate and investor information throughout the year whilst bringing the passion and personality of the business to life. To win a silver award in this category is an excellent accolade for all the hard work put in by both Black Sun and Shaftesbury."

Andrew Thomas, publishing editor of Communicate magazine said:

'This is the fourth year for the Digital Impact Awards and the change from then until now is immense. No longer are digital channels or platforms included in a campaign because they are the new, shiny thing. They are employed because they are the right thing. And each year the benchmark of creativity, strategy and implementation that defines Digital Impact Awards winners gets higher.'
