Bank am Bellevue is considering participating in category 3 of the so-called US Tax Program that was negotiated between Switzerland and the United States of America. As defined in the program, financial institutes registered in category 3 have no reason to believe that they have violated US tax law and are therefore exempt from any penalties.
After the Tax Program was announced, Bank am Bellevue immediately engaged a US law firm to review all of the bank's relevant records and documents. Based on the findings of that review, the bank has concluded that it has not violated any US tax laws.
