Oil & Gas Targeted By SpotterRF C20 - Most Compact Radar Yet

-- 24/7 All-Weather Wide Area Coverage for Short-Range Remote Oil Well Surveillance

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --INTERSEC -- SpotterRF announced today at Intersec its new C20 short-range wide area surveillance radar. The Spotter C20 covers 360 degrees for less cost than any such radar on the market. Award-winning SpotterRF created the C20 in response to customer and integrator requests to reduce the complexity of monitoring remote well sites such as found in the petroleum industry (white paper). The Spotter C20 provides remote oil well sites with 360 degree, 120m range, solar powered surveillance. This new radar's price point is lower than existing 360 degree solutions and has no moving parts that can wear out, unlike the competition. With SpotterRF systems industrial security managers can now have high end radar security with auto camera slew-to-cue capability that until recently has only been available to the military.

"Video security surveillance for oil wells and other remote sites is an explosive cost center for the oil & gas industry. Theft and terrorist threats increase the need for vigilance," states Kyle Holman for ASC. "The introduction of compact radar shows great potential associated with legacy video systems and the mountain of associated data that must be transmitted and analyzed. SpotterRF C20 will lower the cost and decrease response time for real threats."

The Spotter C20 automates the difficult work of monitoring range-limited cameras, empowering security professionals at a much lower price point. The Spotter C20:

  • Rugged
  • Solid state (no moving parts)
  • Wide vertical beam
  • Scans full area multiple times per second
  • One meter resolution
  • 120 degree field of view out to 100m at +-60 degrees
  • Able to pick-up & track very slow movers

This breakthrough compact surveillance radar will be displayed Jan. 19 at Intersec (booth S3-413P).

"SpotterRF radar enhances the range and intelligence of the best camera and analytics available," states Logan Harris, CEO for SpotterRF. "It's easy to show clients the value of adding this low-cost radar capability to new or existing systems."

Before SpotterRF, providing 24x7 wide area security was very difficult. System Integrators were limited to either the use of multiple large Ground Surveillance Radar like ICX's STS1400 that cost $70K each plus extensive training, or to the installation of multiple IR cameras that cost more than $20K each, along with a large Video Management System that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. The C20 has no moving parts like competing FLIR systems that rotate and require ongoing maintenance. The C20 easily integrates with existing camera and security systems for video capture, data transmission, and analysis. This results in faster threat assessment and effective response.
