MEDIA ADVISORY: African American Health Alliance Released Public Service Announcement promoting coverage under the Affordable Care Act Law, also commonly referred to as Obamacare

WASHINGTON, March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --

WHAT: Joining other Healthcare.gov Champions of Change, the African American Health Alliance released a new PSA to promote prevention and care benefits of the Affordable Care Act Law (Obamacare) on March 3, 2014 9AM.

The PSA highlights screening and preventions services as well as how to sign up by the March 31st deadline to get coverage that provides access to quality medical care and prevention benefits through the health insurance marketplaces. In urging people to sign up to get coverage, the effort responds also to the ongoing needs of the approximately 1.1 million people living with HIV, including the 1 in 6 who do not know they are infected. African Americans are the hardest hit by HIV and AIDS. The African American Health Alliance is proud of the provisions it worked to help champion for inclusion in the Law that will go a long way toward furthering the elimination of racial and ethnic health disparities. Ms. Fredette West the Chair, Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities Coalition and Director, African American Health Alliance, participated in President Obama's 2009 White House summit on Health Care and Health Reform. There Ms. West urged President Obama to include provisions to address racial and ethnic health disparities in the future law, now the Affordable Care Act law. The African American Health Alliance is a nonprofit organization committed to helping ensure access to quality affordable health care for all and addressing the social determinants thereof.
