FAIRFAX, Va., April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --General Dynamics Information Technology has been awarded the Joint Effects Model (JEM) Increment 2 contract by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). JEM is the U.S. Department of Defense's primary system for modeling the effects of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) material releases. The cost plus fixed-fee award has a potential value of $23.5 million over five years if all options are exercised.
Under this contract, General Dynamics will develop software that will serve as the foundation for the JEM Increment 2 System as well as the software architecture for the JEM science and technology (S&T) prototype. The JEM S&T prototype provides rapid CBRN defense planning capabilities to remotely deployed warfighters through easy-to-use web application interfaces. The company will also provide program and systems engineering management support and will serve as the integrator of JEM Increment 2 software. Work will be performed in Middletown, R.I.; Buffalo, N.Y.; and San Diego.
