WASHINGTON, April 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC)welcomes denial of visa of Iran's allegedterrorist diplomat by the White House and extends its gratitude to the members of the United States Congress in regards to the passage of a bill to block the visit of Iran's allegedcriminal UN ambassador. In an unprecedented rejection ofIran's alleged terrorist diplomat, the House of Representatives unanimously passed the bill two days after the Senate approved it.
The vote comes in the wake of numerous reports which document the criminal past of the Iranian regimes newly appointed ambassador to the UN, Hamid Aboutalebi. This includes accusations ofhis direct involvement in the taking of American hostages in the United States embassy in 1979.
Aboutalebi has also been directly implicated in the assassination of an Iranian dissident, Mohamed Hossein Naghdi, 42, who was shot dead in Italy, on March 16, 1993.
Aboutalebi's record is indicative of the fundamental nature of the Iranian regime and its policy of terror, violence and deception. The fact that Iran designated Aboutalebi as its ambassador to the UN was clearly a provocative action, particularly in light of Aboutalebi's involvement in the American hostage crisis.
The bill passed by Congress sends a strong message to the Iranian regime that its policy of flaunting terror and hatred has no place on American soil, nor is it a true representation of the Iranian people or their culture. Iran continues to lead the world in the state sponsor of terrorism, and should not be allowed to make a mockery of the United Nations by sending a terrorist as a representative.
The fact that Aboutalebi was chosen as the Iranian Ambassador is also a clear indication as to the true nature of the Rouhani presidency. Far from being a moderate, Rouhani has pursued a policy of provocation abroad and terror at home, all while attempting to portray a moderate image to buy the regime time for its nuclear ambitions.
The Organization of Iranian American Communities calls for increased pressure against the Iranian regime, and for the United States Congress and the Obama administration to stand with the Iranian people and not the theocratic mullahs in power, by supporting true democratic change in Iran.
The terrorists and thugs in the Iranian regime are not representative of the Iranian people, nor does the regimes policy of hate and terror represent the true democratic aspirations of the people of Iran.
