MADD Colorado Celebrates Dedicated Volunteers

DENVER, April 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Colorado held its annual Volunteer Appreciation event honoring the efforts of their dedicated volunteers. The "Art of Giving"-themed brunch and an awards ceremony took place at the Artwork Network in Denver.

"Without the dedication of our volunteers and community supporters, and the generosity of our sponsors and donors, MADD Colorado's programs and services simply would not be possible," said Fran Lanzer, MADD Colorado State Executive Director. "Our victim services, advocacy, youth programs, victim impact panels and events like Walk Like MADD® happen thanks to efforts of our devoted MADD supporters. They truly are masters in the art of giving."

The 2014 event was presented by the law firm of Bachus & Schanker, LLC, MADD Colorado's 2014 statewide sponsor. "Every day, we see the devastation wrought on the lives of the victims of drunk driving crashes. The individuals being honored here today are relentless in their efforts to accomplish MADD Colorado's lifesaving mission to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. We, at Bachus & Schanker, are proud to work with MADD Colorado and the many groups and individuals that are helping to make our Colorado communities safer for all of us," said Darin Schanker, Founding Partner of Bachus & Schanker, LLC.

At the Volunteer Appreciation event, MADD Colorado honored Jeanne Highline with the annual Barbara Brodt Award for her outstanding contributions, involvement and commitment to furthering MADD's mission. Jeanne Highline's husband, Craig Highline a police officer at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs was killed in a crash caused by a drunk driver on October 16, 2008.

Also honored for their longstanding dedication to MADD Colorado were: Patty Lobato, Craig Mansfield, Devin Butler, Tyler Conant, Patricia Kule, Julie Legg, and Rachel Robinson who each received the prestigious MADD Colorado Superstar Award.
