Tech Coalition to Hold Innovation Partners Event

BALTIMORE, April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A coalition of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the Howard Tech Council and the Tech Council of Maryland will hold the first Innovation Partners Event on June 4, 2014. The purpose of the event is to match large private companies and emerging companies with innovative technologies.

"Oftentimes, larger companies look outside Maryland for their services or innovative tech products. We want them to buy local," said Patrick Wynn, Executive Director, Howard Tech Council.

Larger companies that have indicated they are in the market for new products to address such issues as cybersecurity, cloud-based solutions to storage, scheduling and resourcing, among many others, will be strategically matched with young Maryland companies that offer such products or services. The companies will meet for 20 minutes in tailored segments to discuss mutually beneficial partnerships.

"We hope that this initial effort will grow with time and more companies will participate each year," said Donald Fry, President and CEO, Greater Baltimore Committee.

TEDCO is the premier sponsor of this event and support also comes from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. The large companies participating are: UnderArmour, Lockheed Martin, T. Rowe Price, IBM, iBiquity, Pixelligent, Allegis Group, Expedient and Howard County Government.

TEDCO, DBED and local incubators are working with the coalition to identify appropriate young companies to be paired for the meetings. "This event is a great way to open up collaboration between established Maryland companies and those innovative companies that want to sell their services," said Phil Schiff, CEO of the Tech Council of Maryland.

The event will take place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Howard Community College Gateway Business Center. Companies that would like to be considered to make presentations at the meeting should contact Liz Pettengill at lisbethp@GBC.org or 410-727-2820.
