LOS ANGELES, April 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Easter arrives one day early on Skid Row this Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 10:00am - 2:00pm where thousands of homeless & poor children and their families will celebrate with a beautiful homemade barbeque brunch, a spectacular ice cream sundae bar from Rowe Cuisine, inspirational music, face painting, colorful balloons and specially decorated handmade Easter Baskets full of toys and candy for every child. Each family will also be given fresh food bags full of fresh fruits and vegetables to enjoy.
A traditional Easter service celebrating Christ's resurrection will be followed by a delicious barbeque chicken brunch with homemade baked beans, fresh fruit salad, baked potatoes and cornbread. Hundreds of volunteers will bow their knees and heads and pray a personalized Easter prayer of blessing for each individual attending. Anyone and everyone who is hungry and hopeless is invited to attend and will be welcomed with open, loving arms.
God's love and excitement will fill the air as we celebrate that new life can be breathed into dead things and into the hopelessness of Skid Row. The Easter message is desperately needed by our needy, forgotten friends here in the inner city, because the Hope of the Resurrection gives new life, mends broken hearts, and restores shattered lives to all that believe.
Hundreds of volunteers from all over the Southland will give these impoverished children, men and women more than a just great meal and an Easter basket - - they will be showing them God's transforming love and miraculous hope.
For almost 70 years, the Fred Jordan Mission has fed millions of homeless, hurting and hungry people every day. The Mission, open 365 days a year since 1944, feeds hundreds of hungry people and provides assistance to impoverished individuals and families.
