Trio of national traveling exhibitions headed to the History Colorado Center

DENVER, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- History Colorado announced that it will kick-off the History Colorado Center's 2014-2015 season with three dynamic national exhibitions that bring global perspectives to Colorado, starting with Food: Our Global Kitchen (May 2014); then RACE: Are We So Different? (Sept. 2014); followed by The 1968 Exhibit (Feb. 2015). Since the History Colorado Center's opening in 2012, it has become known for its hands-on, experiential exhibits and as a center for learning for all ages.

Food: Our Global Kitchen
May 31 to Sept. 1, 2014

Go on food-filled adventures while exploring the global food system that brings what we eat from farm to fork. Taste treats, cook a virtual meal, and see rare artifacts and the dining rooms of famous figures. Hands-on activities for kids, tours and after-hours programs explore local culinary traditions. Organized by the American Museum Natural History, New York (www.amnh.org).

RACE: Are We So Different
Sept. 20, 2014 to Jan. 4, 2015

Explore the everyday experience of living with race, its history as an idea, the role of science in that history, and the findings of contemporary science that are challenging its foundations. History Colorado will bring this national discussion to the local level with special programs. Developed by the American Anthropological Association in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota.

The 1968 Exhibit
Feb. 7 to May 10, 2015
Step back in time to one of the most extraordinary and pivotal years in contemporary history-1968, a year erupting with extremes. Experience it all in one unforgettable exhibit. History Colorado collections and programs will highlight local perspectives. Organized by the Minnesota History Center in association with the Atlanta History Center, the Chicago History Museum and the Oakland Museum of California, and is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
