BOSTON, April 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The meeting between the Secretary for Massachusetts Health and Human Services and the Rev. Patrick Mahoney was arranged by Governor Patrick after the Pelletier family spokesperson publicly confronted the Governor about Justina's mistreatment under DCF custody and the serious civil rights violations against her.
Following this respectful confrontation, Governor Patrick publicly announced for the first time that he wants Justina to return home to the Pelletiers.
During the 70-minute meeting, a series of critical issues were discussed, the most important of which was a reunification proposal mentioned by Rev. Mahoney that would return Justina back home to the Pelletier's with "conditional custody." The Pelletier family and Justina's state-appointed attorney Nancy Hathaway had both previously endorsed this proposal.
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Pelletier family spokesperson said, "We are thankful to Governor Patrick for stating, for the first time publicly, that he wants Justina to return home with the Pelletiers and for calling this meeting with HHS Secretary Polanowicz."

Secretary Polanowicz went to say that any official plan had to be finalized with the Pelletiers, their legal team, and DCF before it could finally be presented to Judge Johnston. In the 14 months since Justina was suddenly seized by Massachusetts DCF, her medical condition has grown gravely worse. Her family urges that time is of the essence.
