The election of new officers was held onApril 27,during the ASAPS2014Annual Meeting inSan Francisco, CA,which was attended by plastic surgeons from around the world.
After completing his internship and residency in General Surgeryat the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA, Dr. Edwards relocated to the Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX to complete a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery.He simultaneously served his country in theUnited States Air Force for nearly 20 years,with assignments in Europe and the Middle East,achieving rank as a Lieutenant Colonelduring his tenure.Dr.Edwardswas certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) in 1998.

His past hospital affiliations and positions included deputy hospital commander, chief of staff at the 47thAir Expeditionary Hospital at Al JabarAir Force Base in Kuwait as well as chief of surgical services, chief of medical staff and staff plastic surgeon at the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV.
In addition to his role as ASAPS president, he currently serves as a board member of thephilanthropic research and educational arm of The Aesthetic Society, the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation(ASERF), where he also serves as the chair of the Bylaws Committee. Dr. Edwards is very involved in local and national medical societies and is currently president-elect of the Clark County Medical Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
