Union National Bank and Patton Boggs LLP Host Construction Dispute Resolution Conference

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, May 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Union National Bank and Patton Boggs LLP hosted more than 150 members of the domestic and international construction industry on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, for a dispute resolution seminar at the Armani Hotel in Dubai, UAE.

"Protect Your Profits: Avoiding and Resolving Disputes in the Construction Industry" featured Union National Bank Executive Vice President Ayman Adel Kamal, who provided the program's opening remarks stressing the importance of working with its business partners to ensure the smooth implementation of their respective projects.

"Union National Bank believes in adding value to its clients," said Mr. Kamal. "The topic addressed is very relevant to one of the largest sectors in the regional economies in which UNB is very well engaged," he added. "Since 2012, UNB has been engaged in financing some of the largest and strategic projects in the GCC with a value exceeding the equivalent of AED 100 Billion."

Patton Boggs attorneys Thomas P. Wilson, Roy J. Ford, Scott Hutton and Jonathan M. Taunton conducted the remainder of the program, which covered the full spectrum of dispute resolution considerations, including mediation, conciliation and arbitration, and also reviewed dispute avoidance and management strategies. The program concluded with a Q&A session for participants.

"We are delighted to have teamed with our friends at Union National Bank to bring this informative seminar to the clients of our respective organizations," said Mr. Wilson, managing partner of the firm's Dubai office and head of its Construction Practice. "We look forward to continued collaboration with UNB in the service of our clients and theirs."

Last spring, Patton Boggs significantly strengthened the scope of its offerings to the region with the addition of Middle East Construction and Arbitration practice in Dubai, headed by Mr. Wilson. The firm's Dubai team has a distinct understanding of concerns unique to the construction and infrastructure sector in the region, with a particular focus on public and private capital improvement projects, dispute resolution, contract negotiations and related transactions, contract compliance issues, and project risk management and mitigation.
