CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --SEWW Energy Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been selected to accompany U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker on a Trade Mission to West Africa. SEWW Energy was selected based on their expertise to help West Africa countries develop and manage energy resources and systems, as well as build out micro and macro grid power generation projects and network infrastructure.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce there are more than 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa who lack access to electricity. The area is in need of an estimated $300 billion in investments to achieve universal electricity access by 2030.

"We are truly honored to have been selected by Secretary Pritzker to participate in this timely Trade Mission," said SEWW Energy President and CEO Kevon R. Makell. "SEWW Energy's diverse range of product offerings are designed to provide safe, efficient, secure and reliable sources of electricity to those we serve. I am confident that our proven record of success in the energy sector will solidify our role in helping the Department of Commerce to achieve its goal of expansion in West Africa."

"The fast-growing economies in Africa are a high priority for the Obama Administration and the Department of Commerce," said Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. "There is tremendous potential for U.S. companies to export to countries like Ghana and Nigeria, which have energy needs that our firms have the goods, services, and expertise to address. Expanding trade and investment is a critical tool for economic growth and job creation in the U.S., and trade missions like this one are one way to help grow U.S. exports."
