BPC "Lip Service" Campaign Video Rants on Economic Inequality in U.S. as New Job Numbers Return to 2008 Peak but Job Market Still Remains Weak

WASHINGTON, June 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This week the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) released its fourth in a series of six "Lip Service" campaign videos that depicts the partisan rant on the issue of economic inequality. New jobs numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that while employers hired 217,000 more workers, an additional 7 million jobs must be created to be on par with pre-recession levels. The unemployment rate remained steady at 6.3 percent with 3.4 million Americans without a job for six months or longer, and 7.3 million were stuck in part-time jobs.

This video is part of BPC's Citizens for Political Reform campaign. The goal of the campaign is to educate Americans on the issues that are paralyzing progress in Washington and to urge them to make their voices heard and join BPC's movement for change. "We've witnessed how the dysfunction in Congress brought us to a tipping point with respect to our economic well-being," said BPC Senior Fellow and former Senator Olympia Snowe, who leads BPC's Citizens campaign. "Today, income inequality is at its greatest since the 1920s. This isn't as good as it gets for America, and we should not accept the status quo. Please join our movement today!"
