EY to participate in first-ever White House Summit on Working Families on June 23

NEW YORK, June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --The global EY organization will sponsor and have its Chair speak at The White House Summit on Working Families on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Omni Hotel in Washington, D.C. Mark Weinberger, EY Global Chairman & CEO, will speak during the first "Family Matters" plenary session about the importance of workplace flexibility. The White House Council on Women and Girls, the Department of Labor, and the Center for American Progress will host the summit to focus on creating a 21st century workplace that works for all Americans. President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Dr. Jill Biden will all participate in this distinctive gathering.

"In order to attract and retain the diverse workforce needed to succeed in today's global economy, businesses must offer the flexibility that enables people to thrive professionally and personally," Weinberger said. "All workers are demanding flexibility - both women and men, and especially Generations X and Y. The White House Summit on Working Families will convene businesses, economists, labor leaders, policymakers, advocates, and citizens to discuss solutions that can make a real difference in the lives of working families and support America's global competitiveness in the coming decades.

The "Family Matters" plenary is scheduled to begin at 9:20 a.m. EDT, with Weinberger joining a panel of esteemed speakers that will be announced soon.

Opening remarks for the event are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. EDT, and it is expected the summit will end by 6:30 p.m. EDT.
