Allied Telesis Showcases Simplified Network Configuration and Management for Education Market

ATLANTA and SAN JOSE, Calif., June 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- (ISTE Expo: Booth #3640) --Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet switching solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks, introduces its Allied Telesis Management Framework' (AMF) solution to the education market at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Expo in Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center on June 28. AMF is an embedded network management tool for the Company's Enterprise class of Ethernet switch products, which simplifies and automates many everyday network management tasks, greatly reducing the time, cost, and complexity of managing network infrastructure.

AMF is a sophisticated suite of protocols and management tools designed to simplify network management. As networking evolves, complexity and demands on staff increase. The risk of errors-and resulting outages-also increases. The traditional solution is to hire more expertise and introduce more policies and procedures to control changes. However, this costs more and is inefficient. AMF provides an alternative approach: it automates many of the day-to-day tasks and takes the complexity out of repairing and extending the network. A large network can be run by fewer staff. This leads to considerable savings on operating expenditures and makes the network more agile, to keep up with the pace of change that is found within the modern education environment.

Graham Walker, Allied Telesis senior product manager, commented, "Managing network infrastructure is time intensive, costly, and has traditionally required expensive, third-party applications to effectively manage larger networks. AMF is a breath of fresh air for network managers because it's built right into the network equipment itself, so there are no third-party applications to learn. It takes care of the mundane, everyday jobs, allowing skilled staff to focus on more valuable projects. One of our education customers stated that network firmware upgrades now only take 10% of the time they used to, thanks to AMF."

Alicia Ricco, Allied Telesis Education program manager for the U.S.,added, "K-12 IT departments are faced with ever increasing applications and initiatives being added to the network infrastructure, along with providing service to a growing number of users. Unfortunately, funding has not kept up with the surge of usage; our schools are definitely doing more with less! I am excited that AMF hits the mark as a simple, cost-effective solution to this dilemma."

AMF is supported within the Allied Telesis SwitchBlade® range of modular chassis switches, along with the current range of Allied Telesis "x" Series switches- from the cost-effective x210 Series Enterprise edge switches, to the popular x510 Series stackable Gigabit edge switches, and up to the x900 Series advanced Layer 3 switches.
