MIAMI, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/18/14 -- Since it was established in 2006, Pascale's Pals Foundation has been providing emotional and financial support to the families of children diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening diseases at the Women and Children's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. While funds were initially raised through bake sales at the hospital, the foundation now relies on an annual dinner followed by a live silent auction.
Over the period of eight years, Pascale's Pals Foundation has helped furnish 34 rooms at the hospital, adding flat screen TVs, DVD players and the luxuries children would need during their stay. For parents, the rooms were equipped with sleeper beds or chairs to ensure their comfort. The foundation is further collecting funds to renovate the neo-natal waiting room to help new parents stay close to their babies.
Florida-based philanthropist and entrepreneur Matt Argall is one of Pascale's Pals Foundation's main supporters and continues advocating this cause whenever he can. Not only is he dedicated to supporting the foundation due to his firm belief in giving back to the community, but also because Pascale, the foundation's namesake, is his maternal cousin.
Born in 1993, Pascale was diagnosed with an acute form of leukemia at the age of two. At the age of five, she was done with chemotherapy and was ready to live life to the fullest. Unfortunately, she relapsed in 2000 and received different treatments for over a year. Today, Pascale is finally disease-free, happy and successful in her studies. The parents of the new college students could not be more proud as they put behind them many years of heartbreak and suffering.
"It's a miracle that such a young child managed to pull through an experience many adults give up through. I couldn't be more proud to have her as my cousin," Argall said. "I have seen how her parents struggled day in and day out to keep a smiling face in front of her. Luckily, and this is something they themselves admit, they had a lot of help. People would drop by bearing gifts for Pascale and a shoulder to lean on for her parents. Unfortunately, not everyone was as lucky. This is why Pascale's Pals Foundation came into the light. Through it, parents receive ample help to overcome the challenges of this delicate situation while ensuring that children receive ample love, support, comfort and care."
In addition to promoting the work of Pascale's Pals Foundation, Matt Argall regularly contributes to it. He has been generously donating to it for the past five years and has expressed his happiness whenever he dropped by the hospital. "Every time I step into the Women and Children's Hospital in Columbia, I couldn't but be thankful for the support parents and children alike receive," he said. Despite his busy schedule and numerous on-going and future business ventures, Matt Argall takes the time to support his aunt's foundation, which is one of many local organizations that he regularly contributes to.
