WASHINGTON, July 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The National League of Cities (NLC) today selected Pittsburgh, Pa. to host the 2016 Congress of Cities and Exposition, the nation's largest educational and networking event for city officials. As the host city, Pittsburgh will welcome thousands of local officials and professional staff and help organize educational workshops and mobile tours that will explore various city businesses, programs and transit. The selection was made after a vote by NLC's Board of Directors at their annual meeting in Saint Paul, Minn.

The Congress of Cities and Exposition, to be held November 16-19, 2016, includes educational content on pressing challenges facing city leaders and numerous networking activities in and around the host city. Attendees will hear from prominent speakers and issue experts, participate in leadership training sessions, attend issue-specific workshops and engage in mobile workshops held throughout the city.
The conference is also a forum for many NLC's Governance activities and includes meetings and events by NLC's Board of Directors, policy and advocacy committees, member committees and constituency groups, and concludes with NLC's annual membership meeting. The Exposition showcases a variety of products and services available to cities.
Registration is still open for this year's conference in Austin, Texas, held November 18-22, 2014. The theme of this year's conference is "The Future of Cities" and will showcase the innovative ways cities are driving change today, and will help you prepare for your community's future.
