LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Ocado Group plc (OCDO.L), in its interim management statement for the 12 weeks to 10 August 2014, said that its Group Gross sales for the period rose 22.5% to 231.9 million pounds from 189.2 million pounds in the prior year.
Retail Gross sales for the period was 218.5 million pounds up 15.5% from 189.2 million pounds in the previous year.
Gross sales (Retail) refered to the results of Ocado.com and Fetch.co.uk, retail operations. Shown separately are the Ocado Group plc gross sales figures including the benefits from the Morrisons agreement. Gross sales include revenue plus VAT and marketing vouchers.
Average orders per week improved 17.4% to 163,000 from 139,000 last year.
The company stated that the retail environment is challenging with an increased level of promotional activity and price reductions across the industry. However, due to the strength of our offer, the company expects to continue growing sales broadly in line with, or slightly ahead of, the online grocery market.
