Britain is currently experiencing a burst of interest in German culture. In London alone, several exhibitions featuring German artists have recently opened, including one on Dresden-born painter Gerhard Richter. Saxony has been quick to take advantage of this wave of enthusiasm and top it off with an exclusive event. Cellist Jan Vogler - a prominent and well-respected ambassador for the music of Saxony - agreed to put on an extraordinary spontaneous concert at the Victoria and Albert Museum on 29 October. Under the slogan "Simply Saxony", the virtuoso gave a very special musical performance, playing a selection of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach amid the museum's exhibits. The surprise concert was an unforgettably moving and typically Saxon experience for visitors to the prestigious museum, which dates back to 1851.

As part of his visit to London, Jan Vogler also participated in a chamber music concert that evening at the German House.

Jan Vogler is an ideal ambassador for the "Simply Saxony" campaign. His appearances as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic have brought him international acclaim. As artistic director of the Dresden Music Festival and the Moritzburg Festival, he has made - and continues to make - an important contribution to promoting Saxony as a prime location for classical music enthusiasts from all over the world.

The background to "Simply Saxony."

A promotional campaign for Saxony with the slogan "Simply Saxony" has been running since autumn 2014. The campaign focuses on the strengths of the Free State: its breathtaking landscape, world-famous sights and broad cultural offering. "Simply Saxony." also highlights Saxony as a leading location for business and science, and emphasises the typical Saxon traits of enthusiasm for innovation and investment, creativity, inventiveness, a down-to-earth attitude and strong commitment to family-friendly practices.
