WeWOOD Announces New Eco-Friendly Watch in "Kappa Nut"

LOS ANGELES, October 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

WeWOOD, the company behind eco-friendly fashion watches, has launched the attractive and functional new Kappa Nut watch.

WeWOOD is pleased to announce a brand new product, the Kappa Nut watch. Best known for its line of eco-friendly luxury wooden watches, WeWOOD has garnered attention from designers, celebrities, and fashion publications. ELLE magazine wrote "Completely absent of artificial and toxic materials, these timber timepieces are as natural as your wrist - the perfect eco arm candy!" Its commitment to using sustainable products in fashion sets WeWOOD apart from the rest.

Most of the currently existing watches in the company's line are created from reclaimed scrap wood. The Kappa Nut watch is fashioned from walnut wood, a new material for WeWOOD, and is designed after the company's best selling model, the Kappa, known for its premium multi-function Japanese Miyota movements. On why the company chose walnut wood, WeWOOD founder Daniele Guidi said, "We chose this wood for its beautiful color, strength and sustainability. We're thrilled to have incorporated this new type of natural wood into our line."

In addition to its high quality carving capabilities, walnut wood has numerous other properties, according to the WeWOOD representative. It's dark in color and has a rich grain, which is why this type of wood has been used all over the world to create crisply detailed carvings and furnishings. In Asia, for example, walnuts are traditionally used to stimulate blood circulation through rotation in the palm of the hand; this practice has also been used to designate a person of high class.

Walnut wood is also mar-resistant, making it an ideal choice for the new luxury fashion watch from WeWOOD. The Kappa Nut is made from 100% natural wood, making it completely hypoallergenic and free of toxic chemicals. The face of the Kappa Nut is made of hardened scratchproof mineral glass, and the watch itself is adjustable, which means it can fit any sized wrist.

WeWOOD is committed in every way to environmentally sustainable fashion, and the Kappa Nut is no exception. The watches' hardware is made up entirely of wooden inner-workings, making them good for the planet, because they don't use up any extra resources from the earth. In addition, for every watch purchased from the company, WeWOOD will plant a tree. To date, the company has planted over 300,000 trees with the help of consumer watch purchases, planning to reach a goal of 1 million trees by the year 2020.

Along with the Kappa Nut, WeWOOD has also launched a new line of cotton fiber eyewear, another "green" fashion option for environmentally conscientious consumers. The company looks forward to launching new creations in the future to meet the needs of its customers.

About: WeWOOD was founded in 2010 with the goal of combining luxury fashion accessories with environmental sustainability. With sustainable materials like scrap wood and cotton fibers, WeWOOD is committed to designing and producing high quality luxury watches and eyewear, planting one tree for every item sold.
