Blake Richards, Member of Parliament (Wild Rose), on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), attended the Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup alpine ski race and took part in the awards ceremony.

--  The Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup is held every year and hosts both
    men's and women's alpine speed events. It attracts 152 athletes from 17
    countries.
--  The global TV audience for this event exceeds 180 million and it is
    broadcast to more than 70 countries, making it the highest-profile
    alpine ski race in Canada.
--  Sport Canada's Hosting Program is contributing $245,000 to Alpine Canada
    Alpin to assist in the hosting of the 2014 Lake Louise Winterstart World
    Cup.
--  Sport Canada is providing up to $4,481,500 to Alpine Canada Alpin
    through its Sport Support Program for the fiscal year 2014-2015.
