Finals day in the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals at the Hamdan Sports Complex served up a master class in elite level badminton today, as the world's best competed for category honours. A large and vocal crowd witnessed the crowning of new Superseries Finals champions in Men's and Women's Singles, Men's and Women's doubles and Mixed Doubles in an action packed day.

First on the court was the Men's Doubles, and Korea's Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong pulling off one of their most memorable triumphs to claim the title, 19-21 21-19 21-16.
"To be honest, we weren't at 100 percent in the first game," said Lee. "We knew we just had to win one game and then we would be back on track. This ranks as our best win, the crowd supported us."
Next center court saw the Women's Doubles final action with Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan beating World Champions Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei: 21-17 21-14.
Takahashi said, "Our main goal in 2014 was to win the World Series; we didn't expect to win in 2 straight games as we did."
China was next on to the top of the podium with World Champion Chen Long winning the Men's Singles title with relative ease by defeating Denmark's Hans- Kristian Vittinghus, 21-16 21-10 in 47 minutes.
"I came out and just wanted to play my best game possible. With so many fans watching I didn't want to disappoint them. This is the first time Dubai is hosting such a big event and I'm very happy with the way it was organised," commented Chen
In the Women's Singles Final it was Taipei's, Tai Tzu Ying challenging Sung Ji Hyun of Korea, as Tzu Ying won 21-17 21-12.
Tzu Ying commented, "I never expected this with my previous record against Hyun, this is an incredible day. Dubai has been an amazing experience this week."
In Mixed Doubles it was an all Chinese final with Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei playing Lui Cheng/Bao Yixin. World and Olympic champions Zhang and Zhao had no problems beating their compatriots, taking just 41 minutes to complete the formalities; 21-15 21-12.
"It was important to us that we win the title," said Zhang. "Of course it is awkward to play your teammates and we wish both pairs could win the title, but this is a sport and there can only be one winner."
