Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Market by Modality - Emerging Markets (BRIC - Brazil, Russia, India, and China) - 2011-2018

DUBLIN, Jan. 02, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Research and Markets

(http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/v2g7pk/diagnostic) has announced the addition of the "Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Market by Modality - Emerging Markets (BRIC - Brazil, Russia, India, and China) - 2011-2018" report to their offering.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130307/600769)

The BRIC diagnostic imaging equipment market has been divided into six segments based on type of modality, namely, ultrasound systems, X-ray imaging systems, computed tomography (CT) systems, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems, nuclear imaging systems, and mammography systems.

Each segment is further sub segmented based on product type. The ultrasound systems market is further sub segmented by technology (color Doppler ultrasound imaging systems and black & white ultrasound imaging systems) and portability (trolley-based and compact/portable). The X-ray imaging systems market is sub segmented by technology (analog and digital (computed radiography and direct radiography)) and portability (stationary and portable). The MRI systems market is divided by architecture (closed MRI and open MRI) and field strength (high-field MRI systems, very high-field MRI systems, and low-to-mid-field MRI systems). Mammography systems are segmented on the basis of technology (analog mammography and digital mammography). Likewise, the market for CT scanners is further segmented on the basis of slice type (mid-end, low-end, and high-end). The nuclear imaging systems market is further divided into single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) systems.

The ultra sound systems segment accounted for largest share of the BRIC diagnostic imaging equipment market at an estimated $1.6 billion in 2013. This is due to the high usage of ultrasound systems for various diagnostic applications as compared to other costly imaging equipment, and the presence of large number of domestic ultrasound systems manufacturers in these countries. The MRI systems market is expected to grow at the highest growth rate in the forecast period, owing to the rising adoption of high-end MRI scanners in urban healthcare facilities of BRIC nations.

The BRIC diagnostic imaging equipment market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 10.5% and reach -$7.6 billion by 2018.

Factors such as increasing development of technologically advanced and low-cost diagnostic imaging devices, rising incidence/prevalence of cancer and cardiac diseases, rapid growth in aging population, and growing public and private funding to develop healthcare infrastructure are driving the growth of BRIC diagnostic imaging equipment market. However, side-effects of radiations emitted by diagnostic imaging devices, high cost of diagnostic imaging systems, and shortage of helium are some of the key factors limiting the growth of the market in BRIC nations. In addition, the increasing demand for refurbished diagnostic imaging systems in BRIC nations is further posing a huge challenge for device manufacturers.
