Global UV Adhesives Market for Packaging & Laminating, Assembly, Wood-working, Pressure Sensitive Applications, and Other Applications - Trends and Forecast 2014 - 2020

DUBLIN, Jan. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Research and Markets

(http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/slxnpb/uv_adhesives) has announced the addition of the "UV Adhesives Market for Packaging & Laminating, Assembly, Wood-working, Pressure Sensitive Applications, and Other Applications - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast 2014 - 2020" report to their offering.

600769

UV adhesives adhere or bond to a variety of substrates including plastics, metals, wood, and other materials used in various structural or non-structural applications. UV adhesives are mostly used in product assembly applications in electronics, automotive, and medical equipment manufacture and flexible packaging & laminating applications in industrial and other consumer goods. Apart from this UV adhesives and also used for wood-working in furniture and construction industries; pressure sensitive applications for tapes and optical films; and other labeling, paneling, glazing, and graphic art applications. Additionally, UV adhesives are best suited for applications where fast curing is necessary along with permanent bonding.

Stringent regulations against the use of chemicals that emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have resulted in the development and adoption of low VOC emitting products such as UV adhesives. This, coupled with the fast-curing ability and good bond strength of UV adhesives, is anticipated to propel the UV adhesives market in the near future. Benefits such as environment friendliness, time efficiency, lightness in weight, and aesthetics are the major drivers for the rising adoption of UV adhesives.

Miniaturization of electronic devices enabled by use of adhesives and rising demand for flexible packaging applications of UV adhesives is estimated to further fuel demand for UV adhesives in the near future. However, high initial installation cost of advanced machinery is projected to hamper market growth during the forecast period. New applications of products coupled with investment and funding opportunities for development of higher number of formulations is expected to provide immense opportunities in the near future.

UV adhesives can be prepared using a variety of chemistries including acrylic, polyurethane, epoxy, silicone, and others including polyesters, styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBC), and polyvinyl acetate (PVAc). Acrylic is the most commonly used product type due to its high bond strength, low price, wide applicability, and optical clarity. Acrylic UV adhesive was the dominant segment across all regions and accounted for approximately 35% of the global market volume in 2013. Acrylic UV adhesives are expected to be the fastest-growing product segments during the forecast period. Epoxy UV adhesive was another high volume product segment in 2013; however, it is expected to lose its market share to other products such as acrylic, polyesters, and silicone in the near future.
