BETHESDA, Maryland, Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Stratus Consulting, a Boulder, Colorado-based environmental research and consulting firm, has merged with Abt Associates, a global research and program implementation firm specializing in health, social and environmental policy and international development. The merger extends the breadth and depth of Abt's environmental expertise and will diversify the company's client base.

Stratus Consulting, whose clients include federal, state, tribal, and international government agencies, will be integrated with Abt's existing environmental capabilities into a new Environment and Natural Resources division. Since the mid-1980s, Abt has been one of the premier providers of analytic support to key environmental agencies. Similar to Abt, Stratus's projects span environmental sciences and natural resources, environmental economics, environmental information management and policy analysis.
The division will be led by Dr. Joshua Lipton, former president and CEO of Stratus Consulting, reporting to Abt's Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer, Jay L. Knott. Mike Conti, who has led Abt's environmental practice, will be the division's chief operating officer.
