Nestle and Nurun launch Facebook platform to drive recruitment for Nestle's ALL4YOUTH initiative

- The "Alliance for YOUth", a business-driven youth employment initiative created by Nestle with close to 200 business partners, launches new online job and training platform as more youngsters turn to Facebook to find work.

LONDON, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The "Alliance for YOUth" is launching a new social and interactive platform on Facebook aimed at helping young people to find a job.

The platform will be unveiled today at Facebook's offices in London, where a number of senior representatives from the founding partners of the "Alliance for YOUth" will come together.

As more jobseekers turn to Facebook to find work, with 8 out of 10 people using the social networking site as part of their job search, the "Alliance for YOUth" has created All4YOUth, a new online community on Facebook dedicated to youth employment.

Designed by young people for young people, the platform will host a live job stream, notifying users of new jobs and training opportunities and help young people be better prepared to enter the labour market.

The content of the platform is created by students from Geneva-based CREA design school under the guidance of creative and digital experts from Publicis Groupe's agency Nurun, part of the Publicis Worldwide network.

Luis Cantarell, Executive Vice President and Director for Europe, Middle East and North Africa at Nestle said: "The creation of this platform is a new milestone in the journey of the "Alliance for YOUth". It builds on the success of Nestle's Youth Employment Initiative in Europe which is our investment in the future of a whole generation of young people. I firmly believe the business community has an important role to play in tackling youth employability. By partnering with Facebook we can help provide a host of new opportunities to young people who may be struggling to enter the labour market."

Nicola Mendelsohn, Vice President of Europe, Middle East & Africa at Facebook said: "People use Facebook to connect with their friends and the issues they care about - but they also go there to connect to businesses. At a time of economic recovery, young people across Europe need all the support we can give them to begin their careers. Recent research carried out by Deloitte showed that Facebook helps support over 4.6 million jobs around the world. With the support of partners like Nestle we hope that figure will continue to rise."

David Gompel, Global CSO of Nurun, commented: "We are very proud to be working with Nestle on a project that will help the next generation of employees. The choice of Facebook over a business-oriented social network allows for a wider variety of content to be collected in one place and the user experience is truly crafted for our target generation."

Notes to editors

Alliance for YOUth
The "Alliance for YOUth" is an Alliance of leading companies in Europe who recognize that youth unemployment is a major social and economic issue in Europe and are committed to helping to solve it. This business-driven movement aims at promoting a better transition from education and training to employment for young people across Europe. The "Alliance for YOUth" wants to be a change agent in sharing knowledge and experiences to solve local barriers to youth employment. Close to 200 companies have pledged to create more than 100,000 job and training opportunities for young people in Europe in the coming years.

The "Alliance for YOUth", founded by Nestle, has a broad membership and all the companies involved have pledged to:

  • Be an active member of the European Commission's "European Alliance for Apprenticeships" - promoting apprenticeships and training and being active ambassadors for this approach across Europe.
  • Develop a number of joint initiatives to give young people meaningful work experience and internships including the All4YOUTH Facebook platform
  • Mobilise employees to go out into the community and help young people get 'Ready for Work' by offering CV preparation and interview advice.

Founding firms include Adecco, AXA, Cargill, CHEP, DS Smith, EY, Facebook, Firmenich, Google, Nestle, Nielsen, Publicis Groupe, Salesforce, Twitter and White & Case. The job integration was realized by WORK4.

Youth Employment Initiative
To tackle Europe's youth unemployment crisis, Nestle launched the "Nestle Needs YOUth" initiative in November 2013. Nestle committed to create 20,000 jobs and training opportunities for young people under the age of 30 in Europe by 2016. Today, it has already created close to 12,000 opportunities for young people - including 7,700 jobs and 4,000 apprenticeships. In addition, more than 1,600 readiness-for-work events were held in 2014, mobilising around 5,600 Nestle employees.

In the UK and Ireland, Nestle has placed 41 graduates, 11 commercial trainees, 37 industry placements, 43 interns, 50 apprentices and 153 work experience students across the organisation. Nestle UK & Ireland have run over 170 events so far this year, with more than 450 employees having participated, reaching more than 1,500 people.

It has also partnered with social enterprise MyKindaCrowd to offer online skills challenges, employability skills workshops and work experience to over 16,000 young people in the UK by 2016. The partnership, which began in November 2013, will reach over 12,000 young people nationwide and a further 4,000 in 40 schools and colleges close to Nestle UK sites, delivering online challenges and workshops with a focus on STEM subjects.

About the research
Jobviteconducted a nationwide online survey of 2,135 adults (aged 18+), published in March 2014. Participants were screened based on their employment situation and attitude toward future career opportunities, and non-employed, non-job seekers were excluded from the study.
