This evening, 30 March 2015, the Mamont Foundation unveiled the UK team taking part in the Mamont cup, an expedition to the North Pole taking place from 15-21 April 2015. Team UK consists of four wounded soldiers, still in active service with the Royal Dragoon Guards and is led by legendary explorer David Hempleman-Adams who guided the team of soldiers to the South Pole in 2012.

On arrival at the North Pole, the team will be the first full team of serving soldiers to have skied to both North and South Poles, despite all having overcome injuries sustained in active service.

Team UK members include Captain Adam Crookshank, Lance Corporal Nick Webb, Corporal Ollie Bainbridge, MC and Sergeant Robbie Harmer. All members of the team were injured while on active service together in Afghanistan in 2010 and have all skied to the South Pole previously.

The expedition is sponsored by the Mamont Foundation who aim to raise the awareness of the importance of continued research and exploration in polar regions - through this expedition they hope to encourage people to take a more active interest in the importance of polar regions. In addition to this, the soldiers are raising funds for the ABF, The Soldiers Charity.

Other team captains include French explorers François Bernard, Christian de Marliave and Jean Gabriel and an all- woman team lead by Denmark's Bettina Aller. They are joined by competitors from Sweden, Italy, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and the USA in a truly international celebration of polar exploration.

The teams will travel in freezing temperatures, notoriously strong winds and ever changing terrain on the ice cap as they race to the most northern place on earth.
