Summer Golf School for Teens: Global Thinking Ayrshire Business Woman Draws Clients From Around the World

GLASGOW, Scotland, May 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Many would imagine attending school in a castle to be synonymous with a scene from a Hollywood movie where Ron, Hermione and Harry will be waiting with long capes and wands to greet you. However, don't pack your spell books and put down your wands; instead, invest in some decent golf clubs. Scottish business woman Carey Rowe is about to make a castle-based education a reality, by establishing an international "Summer Golf School for Teens" at the idyllic Craufurdland Castle, in the heart of the Ayrshire countryside in Scotland.

This elite golfing academy will run short residential courses throughout July and August for students aged between 12 and 17. Beginner golfers and tomorrow's Masters Champions will receive coaching from leading PGA professionals to help enhance and develop their game.

During their stay at Craufurdland Castle, pupils will also have access to academic courses, designed to help them prepare for the future. These "courses in character" cover a broad range of subjects including English language skills, youth leadership, creative arts, tennis and global entrepreneurship, with further options available for those enrolled in the International Baccalaureate and Duke of Edinburgh Award Schemes. Residents will also have the opportunity to participate in a number of extracurricular activities offered by the schools director and her team, including a wilderness challenge, organised team building activities including kayaking, raft building, mountain biking and cultural excursions to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Carey said: "What we offer at the summer golf school for teens is a unique experience designed to enhance and develop the sporting, academic and, social skills of our students. The school is attracting students from all over the world and creates a great opportunity for young people to make new friends. We aim to instil confidence, develop leadership skills and inspire pupils to set life goals."

Born to Scottish parents and raised in Africa, Carey attended international schools, in South Africa and Kenya. Carey, who later studied International Studies and Political Science in the United States and Mexico, said: "It was an amazing experience to live amongst different cultures and make new friends from all over the world. It made me realise how interconnected the world was and how important access to a good education is. Education is something I'm very passionate about."

Carey has left her globetrotting days behind her and has now settled in Ayrshire to focus on her latest business venture and raising her young family. Ayrshire, she says, is the perfect place to do both.

"I decided to return to Scotland to raise my family here. I love the Scottish people, the safe environment and the strong sense of community that exists here. Living in Ayrshire has allowed me to become part of a community and, I hope, the local businesses within that community will benefit from the economic stimulus international visitors will generate during their visits to our golfing academy. The business is built around my passion for education and cultural diversity, and will amplify Ayrshire's position as a leading tourist destination, showcasing its amazing scenery, outdoors, history, golf courses and people."
