The application was developed to make it possible to buy and sell using Instagram. With an initial investment of R$ 160,000, it has been released in the United Kingdom and seven other countries, including the United States, Spain and Germany, and is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Created in October of 2010, Instagram became one of the most popular social networks, reaching more than 300 million users by the end of 2014. The application was created for ordinary people to advertise things they want to sell, whether new or used, but it can also be used by companies that want to begin selling via e-commerce, or increase product exposure on the internet.
According to Gerencianet CEO, Evanil de Paula, the UK made it onto the list for release of Letsell due to the interest in Great Britain for online purchasing via cell phone. According to eMarketer data, one quarter of all transactions done on the internet in the UK in 2014were executed using cellphones. In addition, online sales in the country are expected to grow by 12% in 2015, according to eMarketer research.
The app allows all transactions to be done via cell phone, and has tools to help expedite the process, such as online chat, which serves as a direct channel for negotiations between sellers and buyers, and the field for inputting the address to calculate shipping costs. The user can track all purchases, sales and records of negotiations in the app, and also alter registration data.
Another feature is integration with PayPal, which is already operating in several countries, thereby facilitating the payment process, and also allowing for negotiation among people in different countries. The seller is only charged a fee when a sale is put through. The buyer pays nothing besides the amount of the purchase.
