MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/20/15 -- UCMAS Mental Math, provider of the leading North American educational program in Abacus and Mental Math for children, announced that its 10th Annual National UCMAS Mental Math & Abacus Competition will take place on May 31, 2015 followed by an Awards Ceremony on June 7, 2015.
The UCMAS National Competition is the largest competition of its kind in Canada with approximately 3,000 students aged 4-13 participating in an eight minute exam to solve 100-200 math questions, depending on their age and level, using only an abacus or mental math. During the course of the last ten years, over 15,000 UCMAS students from across Canada, have had the distinction of partaking in this unique math challenge which tests speed and accuracy in math and encourages students to develop their mental acuity.
"The 10th anniversary of our National Competition marks a significant milestone and this year we are hosting the largest number of UCMAS students at the competition", said Anand Karia, President of UCMAS Canada. "The competition showcases our students' advanced abilities in areas such as problem-solving, visual memory, concentration, and mental acuity".
At the Awards Ceremony, UCMAS will present prizes to the top finalists and champions competing in their respective UCMAS category in front of a crowd of over 2,000, including parents, educators and VIPs, who will be on hand to celebrate the students' achievements at the competition.
